Community
Located along US Highway 20 in the northern part of Antelope County
in Northeast Nebraska, Royal is home to nearly 100 year-round residents,
hundreds of seasonal tourists, a gorgeous recreational lake area, and
some really old fossils!
City Services:
- The Village Board meets the first Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m.
at the Royal Fire Department meeting room. Meetings are open to the

City Parks:
- Royal is proud of its Village Park located at 202 Ryan St.,
one block south of Highway 20. Picnics in Village Park, which has new
restroom facilities, can be enjoyed at one of two shelters. Both shelters
have picnic tables available while one shelter also has electrical outlets.
A game of basketball can be played on the multi-purpose tennis court
while area children can enjoy the playground equipment!
Fire Department:
- Royal has a 16-member Volunteer Fire Department. Meetings are held
the second Monday of each month at the department meeting room located
at 405 Johnson St. The fire department works closely with the Orchard
Rural Fire Board and the Orchard and Brunswick Volunteer Fire Departments
to keep members trained and ready for an emergency.
Utilities:
Water is supplied by Royal's own water tower. Homes and business are
heated with propane, electricity or wood as natural gas is not available
in Royal.

Health Care:
- The health clinic in Orchard, Nebraska provides health care services
to the residents of Royal and the surrounding area. Area hospitals include
the Antelope Memorial Hospital, Neligh; Plainview Area Health
Center, Plainview; Avera St. Anthony's Hospital, O'Neill;
and Lundberg Memorial Hospital, Creighton. Dental care is available
in Neligh, O'Neill, Creighton, and Plainview. Nursing facilities are
available in Neligh, O'Neill, Creighton, Verdigre, and Plainview.
Education:
Area elementary and high school students attend Orchard Public Schools,
located 6 miles west of Royal along Highway 20. Royal is proud of the
educational achievements of its youth.
U.S. Postal Service:
The Royal Post Office is located 3 blocks south of Highway 20
at 109 4th St. in downtown Royal. Hours are Monday through Friday 8
a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9-11 a.m.
Library:
The Royal Public Library is located two blocks south
of Highway 20 at 301 Ryan St. Hours are Tuesday evenings from 6-8 p.m.,
Wednesday afternoons from 2- 4 p.m. and also Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. For
